L’Objet launches home objects with interior designer Kelly Behun
Design brand L’Objet and New York interior designer Kelly Behun team up for a collection of whimsical home objects
Design brand L’Objet has just launched its first collection with New York City-based interior designer Kelly Behun. The L’Objet Kelly Behun collection of 14 whimsical pieces includes art deco-inspired serving trays, puzzle-patterned lazy Susans, leaf-shaped bowls, and sleek picture frames.
Behun, who earlier in 2021 launched an apartment space with shoppable interiors in Manhattan, showcases her signature penchant for juxtaposing textures, the pieces are made out of smoked European oak and ebonised European oak that is offset by quirky brass touches.
‘When I got serious about doing a line of home accessories, L’Objet was always who I dreamed of partnering with the most,’ says Behun. ‘I knew that working with founder Elad Yifrach meant two things: access not only to his incredible roster of talented artisans and workshops around the world, which would ensure the highest quality and workmanship, but also access to his own remarkable and unerring eye for beautiful objects.’
Art meets design
The L’Objet Kelly Behun project is just the latest collaborative endeavour for the design brand, which routinely invites leading figures from art, design, jewellery, and other disciplines to create a unique collection of objects under the L’Objet umbrella.
Past projects include surreal tableware inspired by the landscapes of Joshua Tree and designed by LA-based artist twins the Haas Brothers, as well as a line of homeware designed by Greek jewellery brand Lito, which was covered in mystic ‘evil eyes’.
And while the aesthetic of each new collection is markedly different from the last, they are all united in their ability to elevate homewear into artistry. Speaking about the L’Objet Kelly Behun collection, Yifrach says: ‘I was drawn to Kelly’s style for the seamless way she blurs the lines between art and design.
‘Her approach is sophisticated and has a clear intellectual point of view. The collection we created together flowed out from her approach – and the pieces that emerged will create harmonious and inspiring spaces that are almost surreal, making you feel like you’re living inside a work of art.’
